Our Craft

Studio Luho is made in Melbourne because the process requires a human element. While local production naturally aligns with sustainable practices, that was never the primary driver, it was being in the spaces alongside the makers and getting to know them personally.

It has shaped our product through conversation, standing at the cutting table, and solving problems in the same room as the person who's going to cut the fabric. These are garments shaped by direct conversation, refined through proximity. That's not something you can replicate offshore or through a digital presence.

A collaborative approach, proximity over convenience.

Making it locally can cost more, and navigating the constant communication of a workroom isn't always comfortable, but working with this circle of makers means we’ve gotten better at it. Their knowledge shapes the garment as much as the design does. It's collaborative in a way that only works when everyone is in the same city.

It’s this immediate, hands-on reality that shapes Studio Luho. We don’t always get a silhouette right on the first pass, but keeping production local means we can adjust on the spot rather than waiting weeks for a revised sample.

Our approach is built on this network. A small circle of makers in Melbourne who have been doing this for years and bring their own knowledge to every piece. Keeping that talent onshore, and keeping the process collaborative, is something we're genuinely proud of.
